About the National Exchange Club

Headquartered in Toledo, Ohio, The National Exchange Club was formed in 1911 by a group that wanted to exchange ideas and information with like-minded individuals about how to better serve their communities. Since then, Exchange Club members have worked tirelessly to make their communities better places to live through community service, Americanism projects, and youth programs. Hundreds of clubs have been chartered in the United States and Puerto Rico, with nearly 28,000 members making a positive difference in their own communities every day.

Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) became the National Project of Exchange Clubs in 1979, a decision of the delegates to the 61st National Exchange Club Convention. At that time, a foundation was created to help local exchange clubs establish community-based programs to work with at-risk parents. Today, the National Exchange Club Foundation oversees numerous prevention programs, helps local Exchange Clubs develop and maintain community-based child abuse prevention programs, and supports Exchange's Program of Service, which includes Youth Programs, Americanism, and Community Service.

The National Safe Haven Alliance is pleased to have entered into a partnership with The National Exchange Club, whereby Exchange Club volunteers throughout the country will visit hospitals in their region to ensure that hospital personnel are aware of, and knowledgeable about, local Safe Haven laws. In addition, volunteers will place Safe Haven signage at area hospitals so that women with crisis pregnancies are aware of the hospital as a Safe Haven location.
